Elton!!

Thanks to our wonderful children (hello, kids; waves and kisses..xoxox), we went to see Elton John on Monday night. It was an exciting night out - we started with dinner in Chinatown, then wandered on down to the Entertainment Centre. Of the 11,000 people there - yes it was packed and every seat full- who should we bump straight into, but the Hopes. (our neighbours) - It is bizarre the number of times we run into them at heavily populated Sydney events! Also spotted were Amanda Keller and the cast of Billy Elliott - it always adds atmosphere to an event to spot a celebrity or two -however minor!! ( sorry Amanda! if you're reading!).

So Elton gave a fabulous concert to a packed house - it was apparently his 41st performance at the Sydney Entertainment Centre -we'll be able to call him an Aussie soon! He was every bit the British Lord, I felt..very business like and professional and not as flamboyant as I had expected. He came on at 8.30 and sang almost without drawing breath for 2 and a half hours - great strong voice & great stamina! The playlist included all his greatest hits and the concert built beautifully from the obscure through to the melodic (Candle and Daniel), to the toe tapping and bopping of Crocodile Rock.

The playlist included:
Tiny Dancer, Bitch is Back, Daniel, Candle in the Wind ,Honky Cat, Yellow Brick Road, Rocketman, Bennie and the Jets, Philadelphia Freedom, Sacrifice, Sorry, and of course, Crocodile Rock.

I'm sure there were others, but that's all i remember! O and I loved the drummer/percussionist- he had some bizarre instruments to play and was a bit of an entertainment himself!:) Thanks kids for a great night!! xoxooxox Mum and Dad
