Selling the Ancestral Manor

28 years ago, when we moved to Sydney, we bought this little home. We lived here for only two years;two extremely happy years with our little girl and our new baby boy. When another new baby came along, we moved to something bigger. We kept this home and leased it out. In those days, there was no compulsory superannuation, so we decided this house would be our superannuation. Well that time has now come, and after a run of lousy tenants, we decided to sell.

The yard was an appalling mess,..an overgrown jungle adorned with abandoned cars, trampolines, pots, junk and an enormous pottery dolphin. Dad and I spent the entire (well Dad more than I, to be fair:) ), weekend taking stuff to the tip, chopping down the overgrown jungle, whippersnipping, mowing, raking , sweeping, cleaning oven, windows, woodwork and deodorising . At the end of the weekend we had reestablished order, and sat on the front porch looking at the view and remembering why we had loved this little house so much and the the memories of our tiny children.

The photographer took photos. It was advertised ..the agent opened it for sale and in a blink of an eye we were accepting a very nice offer.

So we have sold our ancestral manor ( read tiny home)..and there is a little tug at my heart to say goodbye!

Remembrance Day

11/11 is Remembrance Day - the day we wear a red poppy and have a minute's silence at 11.am to remember the fallen...

I don't have a buttonhole or a red poppy,so I offer this photo as my remembrance.

Struck

We had a rather spectacular storm last evening. There was a VERY loud bang, and an ensuing smell of smoke, which we traced to the power point int the bedroom! Ooooo Scary.

Today I am waiting for telstra, foxtel and the electrician to put us back on the air!
