Art and About 2010 - - More Statues!

Barry and I did a reprise of the art and about statues on Holiday Monday...

Queen Vic. (the QVB one).

Her Husband and consort Prince Albert (it's handy to carry one's wine goblets on one's person!)

Captain Cook (Hyde Park).

We lunched at Nine dragons (great dumplings!!!- go there:))

and continued our tour with Edward VII. (Macquarie St)

and Il Porcellino (Sydney Eye Hospital).

We wondered through Hyde Park and the Botanic Gardens, admiring the flowers

some gorgeous trees (not sure if they're dead or deciduous)

and the beautiful profile of Governor Arthur Phillip and his nose.

And because I am an absolute sucker for a cathedral.. a few snaps of St Mary's.

Art and About 2010

Sydney has been staging "Art and About"..an outdoor art exhibition of sorts, set around the laneways and statues of Sydney.
As usual, some of the "art" is dubious(i.e. the bench full of overflowing ashtrays), but mostly it's fun - this laneway with colour strips for a roof leading to picture of a house with a room for rent at the end.(It is apparently meant to represent our most basic need for shelter - or something)

The normally staid and boring concrete or bronze statues of Queen Vic et.al, passed-by daily by millions, with never-a-glance, were dressed for the occasion, and very entertaining!! I really liked them - the highlight of the day for me!.. I particularly liked this snapshot of Sydney going about it's business with the wig and his companion(client??), the cyclist and the pedestrians overlooked by a mad Queen Victoria with wand who was obviously dressed by Ken Done.
