2100 ( 21 hundred ) had its debut performance at Carl's 21st last night. They were great!!!!!!!!!!! Here is a slideshow from the performance and hopefully a movie will appear on you tube shortly. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!

As It is In Heaven or Så som i himmelen

Paul Byrnes ..smh movie reviewer... says of this movie "This is one of the best things to come out of Sweden since Abba". Hmm I don't know about that, but it is a fabulous movie. We went yesterday along with most of Sydney, it being a cold and very wet Anzac Day afternoon. It's a movie very reminiscent of " Italian for beginners", if you saw that, however it's much more gritty than romance. The protagonist is a most unattractive bloke whose hair is in dire need of a shampoo, comb and cut, but who nevertheless just exudes charisma and the romantic interest (Frida someone) is just gorgeous. The cast does a fabulous job of portraying the angst and repressions in their respective lives and scenery is gorgeous - set in Northern Sweden somewhere - there's shitloads of snow!! (now I know what your skiing place was like Chris).
So it can go on my list of "best things to come out of Sweden" along with:
Malin
cheese slicers
Advent candle thingies
Ikea
Elderberry flower cordial
Ginger snaps
Abba
Go and see it if you get a chance everybody..it's a great movie. I loved it.!!!

The Wearing of Orange

I thought I'd tell you the story of my new orange acquisitions that are to be the mainstay of my winter wardrobe..So I was down at Forestway and I passed a sales table with the nice orange jumper/jacket above that took my fancy, so I bought it and continued on my merry way. I hadn't gone 2 feet when I saw this orange vest ( below)in the shop window opposite and felt that I really must have it too...I was obviously in an orange mood that day and it was on 20% off special. So I came home feeling quite pleased until I got to thinking.... am I going to be getting around in public all winter looking like either a construction worker ( orange vest) or a Guantanamo Bay escapee ( orange jacket) ?? help ..what do you think???

Happy Birthday, Barry

Dad had his 57th birthday on Monday. He still looks as handsome as ever!! He got jammies, undies, a jacket and a suitcase for his birthday, so he is all kitted out now ready and and very much looking forward to our week in Hahndorf on the 21st.We went to Cockle Bay and had a yummy seafood lunch. Dad had the seafood platter, Tim had seafood fettucine and Megan and I shared a baby calamari entree and a seafood pizza. The pizza was pretty average- not nearly so tasty as Dad's sunday night special, but the baby calamari was soo good!!


After, we walked around to the Pyrmont bottle shop where we picked up some wine and then on to Megan's for the birthday cake - a black forest cake with lashings of cream and very yummy. I took this photo of the bridge on the way home appropos of nothing really, but I liked it and since it is one of Dad's favourite Sydney sights it can go in his birthday blog. Ping Pong

Ok - to set the scene for these pics: here's the story:
Saturday night we went to Danny and Margaret's for a barbie. There was another couple there we hadn't met before (Don and Lorraine) and it soon became obvious Danny and Margaret hadn't known them long either. So we were all getting to know each other over a few drinks and the conversations went something like this:
Don : " Have you guys ever done any skiiing?"
Danny: "water or snow?"
Don: "well either, we do both."
Danny" o yes I used to water ski all the time ..etc.etc.etc. "I learnt to waterski barefoot in 5 minutes. I never fell over."
Don:" O you must have been good if you could do that. Ever done any diving?"
Danny: " Yes I used to dive all the time.I used to dive with sharks in the deepest water ever etc etc"
Don : Me too.. Ever done any fishing?
Danny. yeah I used to fish all the time. I caught the beiggest fish ever.
Don: Me too
( There is some artisitic licence in the telling of this story, but basically it was a night of extreme chest beating and antler waving).
So after dinner Don says to Danny. O I see you've got a table tennis table- you obviously play. Danny explains he plays with Campbell(early 20's son)every night and that Campbell can't beat him - Danny's too good for him. So Don says: "O me and Lorraine play every night too-" we play for a root..it's great..if I win I get a root: if Lorraine wins I get a root too".
OOOO..I simultaneously think - that is so funny but maybe too much info from someone I've known for 5 minutes!! haha"
Throughout all this posturing and posing Dad has been sitting quietly being his normal unassuming self and not saying much.
So then Don suggests a game with Danny. They play: Danny wins , Don is gracious in defeat. Then Danny plays Lorraine..Danny wins ..Lorraine is gracious and good humoured throughout. Then Don suggest Dad might like a game. So dad gets up, picks up the bat , has a few warm - up shots and it's like something out of Forrest Gump !!- hahhaa Dad's got every shot in the book!! Apparently he used to play a lot when he was a kid- Danny's jaw dropped to the floor- haha it was pure gold Chrissy..you would have loved it!!

Where in the world have I been?

I found this cool site on another blog. Seeing the world like this makes me realise how little of it I've seen.I need to go to Hong Kong again now it is part of China , so I can get a BIG green blob there!!Also a footstep into Russia would be good! Chris, Malin, Sarah, Mon et al ( in fact everyone), I would love to see your maps..see where you've been..No Chris, this is NOT a competition ( hehehe)!!! but will be really interesting, I think. - so leave me a comment or post up on your own blogs..
